LOGS - IRTS 80m Counties Contest Jan 2011

Logs should be submitted as soon as possible to contestmanager/ at/ irts /dot/ ie
IRTS News on Sunday 8 January reports the "IRTS 80 metres counties contest, held on Monday 2nd January was well supported, with plenty of activity right up to the last minute of the contest. Most
counties appeared to be represented, although some made  only a brief appearance. Our reporters tell us that Carlow, Cavan and Kerry were top of the "most wanted" list, with other sizeable counties like Tipperary and Waterford not far behind.
(Surely there were stations active in Cavan)
A dozen Fermanagh radio amateurs were on-air for the winter IRTS 80m counties contest on Monday 2 January 2012. A great response as members were urged to take part at the club station or another station and sent a copy of the rules emailed to members and/or downloaded here IRTS Website 80m Rules. They included Jamie 2i0MFB with Gemma Mi6GDN near Rosslea, Cliff Gi4CZW in Enniskillen, The Club Station MN0RCF near Lisbellaw, Bob Mi6RAX in Ballinamallard and Michael Mi5MTC in Irvinestown. Gi6JPO's photo of the club station gang in his kitchen shows Raymond Mi0RMD, nearest the camera Tommy Mi0RVH (LEARC Chair) Mark Mi6CAY, Gabriel Mi6WGL, Jonathan Mi0PPW at the rig, and Willie 2i0EKN standing. Ivan Gi8WJN was also there.

LEARC's club station was again be snug indoors in the Gi6JPO QTH.  We use our second call sign MN0RCF, Radio Club Fermanagh, for these counties contests. To join the station team and help Herbie wash enough tea cups,  email him by clicking here Herbie Gi6JPO
As well, all members are urged to take part from their own QTH, and send in a log or a check log even if only a few QSOs are made or heard.  Again, post a comment on your plans.
All helps to get Fermanagh strongly featured yet again in this popular contest.
In June's summer 80m IRTS Counties Contest, the LEARC station was in SHARE. We used the Club's mobile mast and had a BBQ afterwards. In very difficult conditions our team won the OEI (Outside EI) SSB fixed Award.
The picture shows Tommy (since elected Chairman) M0RVH and Jonathan M0PPW operating the Club's summer IRTS 80m Counties Contest station MN0RCF - Radio Club Fermanagh.
Both also took and passed the advanced examination in June and got Full Licences - 16 monts after Foundation.
Winter conditions should be better on 3 January. A third award would be nice, but there will be far more competitors in what is an very popular contest.
However, most important is to get Fermanagh on-air with most or all the other 31 counties!
Michael Mi5MTC
Secretary LEARC
